Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 - All The Exciting News We Have About Matt Murdock's Return

Matt looking worried in Darevil Born Again

By Dan Bibby

October 16th, 2025
[Updated November 10th, 2025]

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has wrapped filming and is expected to land on Disney+ in early 2026. Many details are being kept under wraps, but there's more than enough that's been made public to get us all excited for the show's return. Information on new and returning cast members and more is now out in the open.

Although technically just the second run of the show, Born Again season 2 is essentially just Daredevil season 5. So, the world is filled with a blend of characters and storylines from the original show, as well as those who only made their debut in Born Again season 1. The follow-up show went through a few different iterations before deciding to be set within the same canon as the OG Daredevil series made by Netflix, but that is ultimately the direction that was chosen.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2's Premiere Date

Disney has confirmed that Born Again will return on March 4th, 2026. So, it'll be a year to the day between the premieres of both seasons so far. Considering how long it can take for a new season of a beloved show to be made in the streaming era, this is amazing news, and I hope it's a trend that catches back on.

What's currently unclear is whether Born Again will fall victim to another streaming trend and release more than one episode at once to form a double- or triple-episode premiere. That didn't happen with season 1, though, so I wouldn't expect Disney to do it this time around. Plus, the show is so hotly anticipated that I would assume the platform will want to keep people engaged for as long as possible.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2's Cast

As I've already mentioned, the cast for Born Again season 2 will be a mixture of those who debuted in season 1, completely new stars, and returning cast members from the corner of the MCU that was once produced by Netflix. The ensemble will be a celebration of Daredevil's past, present, and possibly even its future. Check out some of the highlights from the confirmed cast members below.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2's Most High-Profile Cast Members

  • Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil
  • Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin
  • Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk
  • Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page
  • Elden Henson as Franklin "Foggy" Nelson
  • Wilson Bethel as Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter/Bullseye
  • Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher
  • Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones
  • Tony Dalton as Jack "Swordsman" Duquesne
  • Matthew Lillard - Mr. Charles
It's not surprising that most of these will appear in season 2, but there are four names that stand out. The first is Henson's comeback as Foggy, despite his character appearing to meet his end in the opening moments of the first episode of Born Again. Exactly how Foggy will return hasn't yet been explained, but flashbacks and the possibility of Foggy faking his demise remain my two strongest theories.

The second outlier is Jessica Jones' Born Again debut. The decision to integrate the original Daredevil continuity into the main MCU meant Ritter's character and the other two Defenders (Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Danny Rand) were also swept up in the canonical update. However, it initially seemed as though Disney wasn't going to acknowledge any Defender other than Cox's character. That's apparently not the case, which surely opens the door for Colter and Jones' eventual returns.

The third season 2 cast member to catch my eye is Matthew Lillard. Most known for his role as Shaggy in James Gunn's live-action Scooby-Doo movies, Lillard is credited as Mr. Charles in Born Again. He'll be a political adversary for Wilson Fisk, which should make for some compelling viewing.

Finally, it's been confirmed that Tony Dalton will reprise his role of Jack Duquesne/Swordsman in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. The actor hasn't played the character since he made his MCU debut in 2021's Hawkeye miniseries. With Born Again having a far darker tone than Hawkeye, it'll be interesting to see how Dalton's performance will shift when acting alongside Charlie Cox.

It's perhaps not surprising to see that Bernthal is also coming back as the Punisher, but it is exciting. With a special Punisher episode scheduled for release in 2026, Frank Castle's return in said special is expected to interact with Born Again season 2, and his presence among the cast essentially confirms that.

What Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Will Be About

Born Again season 1's ending made it pretty clear what's in store for season 2. With Mayor Fisk committing more than ever to the outlawing of vigilantism, you can expect things to get pretty violent between Kingpin's specialized task force and the alliance that Daredevil has assembled.

The upcoming storyline very easily explains why characters like Jessica Jones and the Punisher are coming back, but it makes the absence of related characters like Luke Cage and Iron Fist especially confusing. A Defenders reunion would surely make sense given Fisk's oppressive regime. I suppose there is room for surprise cameos from both characters, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Although not especially important to the story, leaked set images have revealed that Daredevil will finally be wearing his iconic, comic-accurate suit in Born Again season 2. Primarily black, the suit in question has only red highlights, but said highlights include the "DD" on his chest that fans have been crying out for since the original Daredevil show back in 2015.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Won't Be The Show's Final Outing

Daredevil: Born Again season 3 has already been greenlit before season 2 has aired a single episode. Head of Marvel TV Brad Winderbaum confirmed the show's renewal during an interview with IGN. Winderbaum explained that shooting is scheduled to begin "next year," meaning 2026.

Obviously, season 2 needs to air in its entirety before we can know what's in store for Matt Murdock and company in season 3. As a result, it's impossible to know at this point what the writers have in mind for another run of episodes, unless you're in the room watching them putting pen to paper. One thing is likely: if Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is so close to shooting, it will probably arrive like clockwork, as season 2 did.
