This was a good book but first let me point out that although this claims to be issue one it technically is not, And it is recommended that you read the free comic book day issue first in order to see the events that happened that are the main premise of this book and how the story starts. Artist David Marquez draws all four defenders really well and is skilled in his use of emoting expressions.
GENERATION X #3
This run has been pretty solid so far. Fans of the classic series will be happy with this as it sticks to the original format of a team of young mutants struggling to find their place in a world that fears them and also jostling for position amongst their peers at the school. Writer Christina Strain does a great job with the script and story by fleshing out these characters and making their dialogue engaging and believable.
After a strong start with issue one issue two continues down the rabbit hole of horror dealing with a disturbed man plagued by deranged violent visions of his mysterious cult like past life. Recommended strictly for horror comic fans as this is not one for the faint-hearted. Artist Danny Luckert conjures up some brilliant gory artwork that works well with the disturbing subject matter and intriguing script.
GRASS KINGS #4
This series has been pretty amazing so far and one to definitely pick up in trade. Issue 4 does not disappoint as the momentum builds towards next months action packed penultimate issue. Artist Tyler Jenkins is simply phenomenal and brings a whole new level of dimension and meaning to abstract comic book illustration with atmospheric art with beautiful watercolours fused with dynamic panelling and gorgeous splash pages.
