@dorncosplay is our Cosplay of the Week winner. Here's an interview with our armoured Pokémon!
What motivated you to make this particular cosplay?
I grew up watching pokemon and playing the game with my brother on gameboy color (I always chose charmander). So when I decided to make my first cosplay pokemon, in particular charizard, it felt natural but I wanted to put my own twist on it. That's why it turned into a post apocalyptic style.
What was your first cosplay?
My first cosplay was my original charizard. It was pretty tough as I didn't have a lot of tools, not even a dremel or a heat gun. I've been doing cosplay for 3 and a half years now. The Charizard I have now is the second version. I've basically slowly upgraded and added to it over the years from the beginning. You'll see [from the photos] how it started rough and got way better as I learnt more.

What's the best and worst part of the costume?
The best part of the costume is, by far, the reactions I get from people, especially when I use the switch to open the wings. Unfortunately I made the wings from copper pipe so it gets really heavy after a few hours at the expo.
What's your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspirations have been the girls at ellipsiscosplay. The first time I went to an expo I saw their pokemon cosplays and thought, "damn I want to make something that cool". Evil Ted has also been a huge help learning how to improve my skills.
What's your dream character to cosplay?
I'm not really sure what my dream cosplay is, I normally just make what I think would be cool. That being said, I have been planning on making a samurai Gyarados for a while now.

And what's the best cosplay you're ever seen yourself?
I have seen lots of amazing cosplays over the last few years so it's really hard to pin one down. One that really stands out was Kushana that @Sword_mistress made. I got to see it up close when we competed in the Calgary Cosplay contest. It had amazing detail and looked like metal. It was a really incredible feeling to be considered in the same category as her. It was my first time entering in a contest and getting to meet all the other cosplayers and ask them questions, was amazing.
I'm also really proud of my Blastoise. The first version was super bad and I'm honestly a little embarassed of it but the second version is my favourite, maybe even more than my Charizard. It has way more detail and the right pauldron is my favourite single piece I've ever made [sic].
