Brian Harmon aka PERLERTRICKS won our Cosplay of the Week! Here's a quick interview with him:
What motivated you to make this particular cosplay?
I grew up watching the X-men animated series. I have two small kids so I decided to capitalise on our size difference and do the classic sentinel and make them two Jean and Scott.
What is the best and worst part of the costume?
I am pretty proud of this costume overall. It was my first armour build and I couldn't have done it without a bunch of YouTube tutorials. The best aspect is the sheer size of it. With my stilt boots, it is over 7ft tall. I also love hearing the dads at conventions, who grew up watching the X-men, pointing out the Sentinel to their kids. The worst part is the articulation in the legs. On my next armour build I will definitely pay more attention to make it easier to walk and climb the stairs.

How long have you been doing this?
My wife and I have been making costumes for over 10 years, but just the past 3 years I have been making cosplays and attending conventions with them. Who's your biggest inspiration? My biggest inspirations are my kids. They are so into costuming right now, their joy is inspiring. I will make costumes with them as long as they'll let me. What was your first cosplay? A monster from 'Where the Wild Things Are' was my first official cosplay. |
What's your dream character to cosplay?
I really like the X-Men cartoon villains. I have a dream of doing a Juggernaut or Mr Sinister
What's the best cosplay you've ever seen, yourself?
@Ginozacostuming (IG Handle) Sonya from World of Warcraft is absolutely stunning. Her sculpting and painting skills are unreal.
